A photoblog by Sean Loyless, a part of the Daily Haggis network.
I wanted to capture a photo of one of my other hobbies: my guitar. I don’t play as often these days, but it is always a constant fixture in my living room.
I took the opportunity before I mowed my overgrown yard to snap a few pictures of it surrounded by nature. I’ve always liked the perspective of looking down the neck of a guitar, and the few sprinkles from an oncoming rainstorm added just the perfect touch to the lush green surrounding it..

I had originally planned to go down to the Riverwalk today, but the torrential downpour that happened on the way back from lunch changed those plans. I have been wanting to catch water droplets lately, so the slight break in rain gave me a quick opportunity to snap a few photos.
On the way to lunch today I noticed how pretty these pink flowers looked, so I grabbed my camera as I headed back to work and took some snaps before I went back in the office. I like the little round buds in the foreground and how vibrant the pinks came out.
If anyone can tell me the name of them I’d be gracious. I don’t know anything about plants (including how to keep them alive.)
I played with the layers in Photoshop this time. 3 layers – bottom had the shadows and highlights brought up, second layer was desaturated with the hard light effect, and third with a high guassian blur with soft light effect. I’ve tried this process on some other photos, but it comes out looking a little ugly. I was happy with this one.
Want to say a very special THANK YOU to Cecily who sponsored my Flickr Pro account. Thanks!!
Sometimes you have to seek a photograph. Sometimes a photograph comes to you. Sometimes a photograph comes to your window and your dog barks at it, otherwise you wouldn’t have seen it at all.
He was about the size of a football, and did not like me near him. I had to lay down on the ground with my camera pointed at him for about 10 minutes before he came out and started walking around.
I asked him how I could kill The Nothing, but he just laughed at me.

Taken outside my office and quoting the last good Aerosmith song.

The rose bush in my yard bloomed for the first time since I’ve lived here, and produced this dark red beauty on this dreary Monday morning. I noticed a few other buds as I got close enough to take this picture.
